Shaded Sports Hall Roof, Oxfordshire

Shaded Sports Hall Roof, Oxfordshire

Our client, the contractor R.J. Leighfield & Sons Ltd of Royal Wootton Bassett, was tendering for a new sports hall for Pinewood School and set the design engineers in R-ECO the challenge of maximising the output when the roof was at times partly shaded.

Our team designed the system to occupy the part of the roof least affected by the shading from the 200 year old oaks trees in the school grounds and then further mitigated the problem by incorporating a Solaredge power optimiser (see info section) system which we regularly use on domestic properties.

This also had the further benefit of permitting the system to be monitored remotely both by R-ECO and the school's management team.

“At the initial design meeting R-ECO`s solar PV experience , knowledge and understanding of the project brief was highly evident. Producing a considered installation design coupled with an understandable cost/benefit analysis enabled project endorsement. Professional and approachable throughout R-ECO continue this ethos post project through proactive remote monitoring. The environmental benefit which is considerable is extremely important to Pinewood School.”
Gary Vaughan, Estates Manager at Pinewood School

“R-ECO ...were a pleasure to work with and have on site. They were tidy, had a great attitude were happy to just get on and do the work, nothing was too much trouble. The Estates Manager was very impressed that is was all done so quickly.”
